Anyone who feels the need to personally do something towards improving their environmental footprint and their impact on the lives of others will immediately appreciate that it’s hard. It’s hard because when you make a start, you immediately develop an awareness of just how much you personally – and your business – contribute to the waste stream, and how much pollution you are responsible for.

And you become aware of how hard it is to change.

When you operate a business and want to go about fulfilling your goal of being a fair trader, you face the conflict of having to balance the need for your company to be profitable and your people to earn a good living, against setting a fair price for your goods and services. Ultimately you quickly appreciate that you can’t be the cheapest – and the best employer – and the most environmentally sustainable, all at the same time. …

But you can try.

Of course you can’t do everything but you can at least try to be better. You can start with a goal in mind and work toward it, all the while accepting that while you will never be perfect, each day you can be better than you were before…

…and if everyone was to do that, it would make a difference.

At Village Real Estate, we strive to be an industry leader in the real estate space. We aspire to drive change. We want the people of our industry to tread gently on the earth. We lay down the challenge to our industry to join us in the environmental plight that has fallen upon us. We’re far from perfect, but we’ve started.
We know, first hand how hard this is, and acknowledge that everyone has households to run, incomes to earn, families to raise. Let’s just do what we can. Because we know that once everyone starts doing their very best, we might just save the planet.

Check out a video below of the ‘how’ behind our timber signs, showing that with a little kiwi ingenuity we can ditch the coreflute signs forever. And you can also check out our Environmental Policy to know more.
